Leading for a Change
As I launch into a new venture, hoping to find opportunities to speak to leaders in church and business, I hope I am a part of a global community of people who are leading for change.
This past week, I had the opportunity to share with two different groups of people: First, a group of pastors looking to reach more people with the message of Jesus. Second, a group of community leaders and students looking to make a difference in our community.
Like many other speakers, I considered using one talk, and perfecting it for both groups, but I realized that each of their roles were different and decided that they each deserved their own experience.
I know this goes against the grain of the speaking industry, but the reality is that true leaders lead to help others. We don't lead to get people where we want them to go, but by helping them get where they want to go.
Zig Ziglar said, "You can have everything you want in life, if you will just help enough other people get what they want."
Jesus says, "If you want to be great in the kingdom of God, learn to be the servant of all."
When leadership is unselfish, when we put others ahead of ourselves, we can inspire, create, and move people to real change.
I am hoping and praying all this work helps bring change to leaders, change to the world, and change for the good.
