Notes:
Two Choices to sustain a thriving life with others
Forgiveness
If we can’t forgive each other then we will always have relationships that struggle.
Recognize your own brokenness
Accept pre-forgiveness
“People can be offensive, but you have to choose to take offense.”
We have been forgiven more than others can sin against us.
If you believe that Jesus died on a cross for the sins of all men for all time, then you have accepted His forgiveness for those who have yet to sin against you.
You are empowered to change your world through forgiveness.
Cancel the debt
There is a difference between forgiving someone and trusting someone.
Wisdom may say the relationship needs to change, but that does not mean they owe you something.
Encourage signs of change
We get so focused on new mistakes we don’t see signs of change.
It takes a long time to kill some of our idols, so we need to encourage those who are trying to do it.
Integrity
“To be single minded.”
Clarity
“What story do you want to tell?” - Andy Stanley
Are you clear about the story you want to tell when you look back on the moment you are in.
Write your obituary
Clarity helps us stay focused on a life we want to move toward.
Consistency
“Holiness is a long walk in the same direction.” - Eugene Petersen
Character
Is your character the kind of character that brings life and hope and peace to the world?
“Character is formed in the prayer closet, but it is forged in the public square.”
